What We Watchin:Comedian and Actress Robin Thede is Working on A Zombie Comedy That Takes Place During a SpelHouse Homecoming
|
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on April 27, 2021 Comedian and actress Robin Thede is no stranger to celebrating Black culture in her work. From having her own late-night show, "The Rundown with Robin Thede," to her HBO hit "A Black Lady Sketch Show" Thede has always shown just how funny Black folks can be. Thede's next project is no difference and will show just how funny Black folks can be— during a zombie apocalypse??? According to Variety, Thede will write and produce the developing zombie action-comedy feature “Killing It” with Jax Media and Amazon Studios. The story revolves around a group of underachieving friends who live in Atlanta, which becomes overrun by zombies while the friends are taking part in Spelman College’s SpelHouse homecoming event, 10 years after they dropped out of the prestigious HBCU women’s school. It’s described as “Shaun of the Dead” meets “Girls Trip.” I'm not usually into zombie films, but as a Spelman grad and a fan of Robin Thede, I'll definitely check it out. Will y'all be watching?
