Savannah State University Grad Denerick Simpson Named HBCU Competitiveness Scholar

He not only recently graduated from Savannah State University with a master's, but he has also been named an HBCU Competitiveness Scholar. According to the Savannah Business Journal, this Doerun, Georgia native is a Title I middle school science teacher, a behavioral health technician at a local hospital, a Saturday academy instructor, and a former graduate assistant in SSU’s College of Business Administration. Selected for their academic achievements, campus leadership, civic engagement, and entrepreneurial spirit, HBCU Competitiveness Scholars are the next generation of leaders who exemplify educational excellence, innovation, and economic competitiveness. Simpson will attend the 2021 National HBCU Week conference in September where HBCUs are acknowledged and celebrated. Throughout the year, he will attend monthly webinars, network with other scholars and participate in workshops. Congratulations to Denerick Simpson and we commend you for representing HBCUs well.
