Comedic Legend Paul Mooney Passes Away At Age 79

Trailblazing comedian, actor, and writer Paul Mooney passed away this morning at the age of 79. Mooney was known for his outspoken, witty, and blunt comedy that covered everything from race relations to social justice. He was also known for his work with Richard Pryor and Dave Chappelle. After it was reported that Mooney passed away of a heart attack, his family took to his official Twitter account to address the news. “Thank you all from the bottom of all of our hearts …you’re all are the best!…… Mooney World .. The Godfather of Comedy – ONE MOON MANY STARS! .. To all in love with this great man.. many thanks.” Many comedians are coming out and sharing what Mooney meant to them throughout the course of their careers. Actor and comedian David Alan Grier took to Instagram and said, “I performed with Paul on stage, worked with him on screens big and small witnessed him absolutely destroy audiences night after night after night! I will miss your uncompromising truthful insight, intelligence, and searing wit.” Dave Chappelle told TMZ earlier today that Mooney will be "will be sorely missed and wildly remembered" and that he will do what he can to make sure his legacy is never forgotten. We are deeply saddened to hear that this legend is no longer with us, but we are glad that his comedy and impact will live on forever. May he rest in heaven.
