Rapper 50 Cent Partners With Houston School District to Establish Advanced Business Program

Rapper 50 Cent Partners With Houston School District to Establish Advanced Business Program
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on May 24, 2021

Rap Superstar and actor Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson just moved to Houston and is positively impacting the community already!

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner announced during a press conference last week that 50 Cent made a generous $300,000 donation for a business-ready program at three Houston Independent School District (HISD) high schools that have historically underperformed academically. His donation was matched by HISD bringing the total to $600,000.

50 Cent has partnered with HISD, Houston United, and the G-Unity Foundation, and has selected Houston high schools Wheatley, Worthing, and Kashmere to benefit from the new program.

The rapper spoke on why he wanted to create this program now, saying, "These programs will really get people excited to learn again after everything that's been going on."

Through the program, students will be offered paid internships and unique opportunities to connect with business and industry leaders and 50 Cent himself, according to the district. Students at the three schools will also get access to the G-Unity Business Lab, where 50 Cent will mentor student entrepreneurs and will help create the next generation of minority-owned businesses in the city.

The program will also offer students paid internships and opportunities to connect with business leaders and 50 Cent himself, according to the district.

"A quality of education is one of the best tools we can give students to succeed in the classroom and in their future professional career," said Turner. "We want to create additional opportunities for young people who are going to be the scientists, entrepreneurs, engineers of the future."

While just three schools will initially be participating in the program, the rapper hopes to build from there."It's three schools right now, but it's going to be a lot more, just watch me."

Shoutout to 50 Cent for putting in work and making an effort to support the youth.
