From the Projects to a Doctorate: Master P Awarded Honorary Doctorate from Lincoln University

The rap mogul was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Humane Letters after graduating from Lincoln University. Miller was just one of 400 graduates at Sunday’s ceremony. The No Limits Records founder took to social media to share his accomplishment and encourage others to keep pushing themselves to be better: “I guess I got to change my name to, Dr. P. Miller,” he wrote. “From the projects to getting a Doctoral degree from @lincolnuniversityofpa. Don’t be afraid to change, grow and educate yourself. I did it ! You can do it. #GODISGOOD #Nevertoolate #hbcu #NoLimit There is NO limit to your dreams #DRPMiller.” His son rapper and actor Romeo Miller left a comment celebrating his dad saying, “You make everything look easy but they don’t see the sleepless nights, I always pray to God to protect you because you only get sleep/rest on the plane. Congrats Dr.P and keep inspiring. Love u pops #NoLimit @masterp.” Before his music career took off, Miller attended the University of Houston on a basketball scholarship, but after suffering from an injury, he dropped out and transferred to Merritt College where he studied Business Administration. He and his family have maintained a strong connection to HBCUs though. Just a few months ago Miller shared with the world he hopes to one day start his own HBCU after finding out that most Black institutions are owned or were founded by white people. His son Hercy Miller also just recently committed to HBCU Tennessee State. We congratulate Master P on all of his accomplishments and we’re happy that he has received a degree from one of our beloved institutions!
