Lockheed Martin Named #1 Top Supporter of HBCU Engineering Institutions for 6th consecutive Year
|
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on June 17, 2021 For the sixth consecutive year, the Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Deans Council voted Lockheed Martin number one among fellow industry partners for its unwavering support for America’s HBCUs. This includes countless efforts from Lockheed Martin employees to deeply engage talented minority students. Each year, US Black Engineer and Information Technology (USBE) magazine surveys the deans of the 15 accredited HBCU engineering schools recognized by the Accreditation Board of Engineering Technology (ABET), and surveys the corporate-academic alliance Advancing Minorities’ Interest in Engineering (AMIE) for the annual “Top Supporters of HBCU Engineering Schools” list. In 2019, Lockheed Martin provided the most support in the areas of curriculum enhancements, research, participation on advisory councils, faculty development opportunities, scholarships, student projects, stipends, co-ops, and career opportunities. “Never resting on their laurels, the diversity and inclusion team is always thinking of new and innovative ways to advance what we are currently doing, to ensure that we are investing in campuses and expanding our pipeline for talented students,” said Rainia L. Washington, vice president of Diversity and Inclusion. “Leaders across Lockheed Martin at every level are personally invested as well, and I’m proud of the work we’ve done as a team.” SOURCE: Lockheed Martin If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
