Thanks to the CARES Act, Stillman College Students Will Have Student Debt PAID OFF!
|
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on July 12, 2021 GREAT NEWS! There is yet another HBCU that will be helping its students clear their student loan debt! Stillman College is joining Wilberforce University and St. Augustine's University on the list of schools that surprised its students this graduation season. Stillman College will be using funds from the CARES Act to minimize students' financial burden upon graduation. “It’s going to give so many students a fresh start and a new lease on their education and financial future. With so much going on about student debt, student debt is climbing across the country." Dr. Tyshawn Gardner, Vice President for Student Affairs at Stillman College, said about the decision. "This provides our students with a unique opportunity to continue their education while they minimize the debt to pay for that education.” The school has set aside a whopping $760,000 towards helping students pay off remaining balances for tuition, room, and board! “It allows the number one to return to school to continue their education unimpeded by financial constraints. It also allows enrollment numbers to continue to climb and hopefully will lead to a very prosperous and successful Fall,” said Gardner. We absolutely love hearing stories like this and we hope that this trend continues so more HBCU students and grads are left in a better financial position.
