Faculty from 12 HBCUs Across the Country Join Initiative to Strengthen HBCU Online and Blended Instruction
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on July 14, 2021

More than 650 faculty members from 12 HBCUs across the country are coming together to help strengthen online instruction at their institutions.

Thanks to an initiative created by Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE), selected faculty will get to participate in a 25-week Effective Online Teaching Practices course.

The Excellence in Online Instruction initiative is funded by a grant from the Bank of America and will teach and implement equity-promoting, evidence-based teaching practices designed to improve student engagement, persistence, course competition, and overall knowledge retention.

Participating institutions include:

*Alabama State University
*Bowie State University (MD)
*Charles R.

Drew University of Medicine and Science (CA)
*Harris-Stowe State University
*Medgar Evers College—CUNY (NY)
*Norfolk State University (VA)
*Southern University Law Center (LA)
*Tennessee State University (TN)
*Virginia State University
*West Virginia State University, and
*Winston-Salem State University (NC)

“Our online presence is increasing for both our online courses as part of hybrid degree programs and fully online programs. Participating in this course will assist our faculty members in ensuring the success of ASU students by improving their online teaching skills,” said ASU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Angela Peters.

Kuddos to TMCF and ACUE for coming together to make sure that educators have access to more resources in order to provide a better online learning experience for our HBCU students.
