Fisk University to Disregard Academic Performance of Previous Year and Restore All Academic Scholarships for Fall 2021

Fisk University to Disregard Academic Performance of Previous Year and Restore All Academic Scholarships for Fall 2021
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on July 28, 2021

Several HBCUs have been coming out and announcing the ways in which they will help accommodate students before they return for their first semester on campus since the start of the pandemic. Just last week, Clark Atlanta University announced that they would be clearing the remaining student account balances for this past year. Earlier this week, Spelman College did the same and also announced that ahead of this school year, they would be setting the tuition rate to what it was in 2017, which is considerably cheaper than last semester.

Today, Fisk University has announced that despite any poor academic performance from the past school year (due to the extreme circumstances of a global pandemic), they would be restoring all academic scholarships for the upcoming year.

This is huge, considering that many students may have earned lower grade point averages and would have been at risk of losing their scholarships.

In a statement released on the school's website, Fisk University said:
"In light of this past year and the extraordinary challenges and hardships everyone has experienced, Fisk University has opted to preserve all institutional scholarships and disregard any existing criteria for the past academic year. We are deeply committed to the success of our students, and this will allow them the time to readjust to their academic schedules and once again excel at the highest levels. Fisk faculty and staff are dedicated to ensuring that students achieve their absolute best and that their future will not be defined by this horrific pandemic."

We absolutely love seeing our beloved institutions doing what they can to help HBCU students be successful, even though all of the madness going on around them. We wish all of the HBCU students everywhere much success during the upcoming school year!
