Posted By: Kennedy Williams on August 17, 2021 Today Fisk University announced the launch of a new Construction Management Certificate Program in partnership with Enterprise Solutions. The program is a one-year certificate designed to introduce students to the hands-on skills related to managing all aspects of construction management and to provide students with new opportunities in a growing industry. The program, which is launching Fall 2021, will be led by the Nashville-based electrical design and construction firm Enterprise Solutions. During the year-long certificate program, students will explore the skills and industry-specific tools that are essential for leading a successful project team. Students will have the opportunity to learn from industry leaders across the construction industry including, James C. Seabury III, Chairman & CEO of Enterprise Solutions; Jeffrey Fuller, President of Healthcare for JE Dunn Construction; Richard L. Miller, Chairman of Earl Swensson & Associates (ESa); Dennis K. Jacobs, SVP of Engineering & Construction for Vanguard Health Systems (retired), among others. Fisk University President Vann Newkirk Sr. said, “Fisk is continuously pursuing new opportunities to provide our students and with the massive construction boom in Nashville right now we want to allow our students to explore a successful industry they may not have considered before.” Weekly classes will include topics like introduction to fundamentals of construction management, safety, quality control and assurance, and estimating. Classes will be led by Enterprise Solution’s employees, ESa, JE Dunn Construction, and other industry professionals. Students will participate in site visits, networking events, and will finish the program with a group Capstone project. Enterprise Solutions Chairman & CEO James C. Seabury III, P.E., said, “As our work continues to expand and the demand for skilled individuals in construction rises, we knew we could count on Fisk University as a strong, local educational partner with eager students’ interested in learning more about the field. We were thrilled about Fisk’s interest and we’re excited to fully fund this initiative working alongside their leadership and professors on the inaugural year of the Construction Project Management Certificate. We have full confidence in the future of this program to provide the industry with strong Construction Project Managers in the Nashville market and beyond.” Students accepted to the program and who complete it in good standing will have the opportunity to continue their education after graduating the program with a guaranteed paid summer internships and a job offer to follow.
