Edward Waters University Presidential Scholars Make History As University’s First Duo Selected As White House HBCU Scholars

Posted By: Kennedy Williams on August 17, 2021 Ms. Brianna Pendergrass, a Junior Biology major, Presidential Scholar, Honors College Alpha Cohort member, and current Miss Edward Waters University along with Mr. Naim Brown, a Senior Business major, and Presidential Scholar were named earlier today as White House HBCU Scholars. Having been nominated by EWU President, Dr. A. Zachary Faison Jr., Ms. Pendergrass, and Mr. Brown were selected from amongst the nation’s 105 Historically Black Colleges and Universities for their extraordinarily high achievement and accomplishments in academics, leadership, and civic engagement. Each holding perfect 4.0-grade point averages respectively, Ms. Pendergrass and Mr. Brown have collectively made history as the first EWU duo to receive recognition as White House HBCU scholars in a single year. As White House HBCU Scholars the students will travel with President Faison to the 2021 HBCU Week National Annual Conference, which will take place September 7-10, 2021 where they will be recognized in an award ceremony in the nation’s capital in Washington, D.C.
