DC Master Gardener - Summer 2021 CE Series Episode 7 - Tree Communication Presenter - Richard Jones and Meg Smolinski August 17, 2021 Description: Trees not only can communicate with one another; they use fungi to do so. Ecologist Suzanne Simard discovered this revolutionary process twenty years ago when conventional wisdom saw trees as individual competitors. Research into the how's and why's continues today and reveals a much more complex and fascinating interwoven world. Bio: Richard Jones, Board Certified Master Arborist Despite having a degree in economics, Richard has ended up as a leader in the arboriculture world. His career in trees began as a landscaper in 2009. He became a certified arborist in 2012 while working for the Columbia Association and then a Board-Certified Master Arborist in 2018.
