DC Master Gardener - Summer 2021 CE Series Episode 8 - Prune with a Purpose - Presenter - Jake Hendee August 31, 2021 Description: Based upon the Smithsonian Let’s Talk Gardens series episode Prune with a Purpose: A Gardener’s Guide to Thinking Like an Arborist, this talk was a virtual, yet hands-on, session about tree (and shrub) pruning. The first half of this talk reviewed an arborist’s perspective about the most important points of taking your pruning to the next level, while the second half was an interactive discussion of several case studies in pruning, that participants were encouraged to send in advance. Bio: Jake Hendee is the arborist at Smithsonian Gardens and a Board-Certified Master Arborist. As the arborist at the Smithsonian, Jake manages an official Smithsonian collection and one of the Smithsonian’s few living collections: the trees.
