Tompkins County in Ithaca, New York is a compassionate, resilient, and innovative community where people from all backgrounds are invited and welcomed. The Tompkins County government is made up of 27 departments and hundreds of dedicated employees who work hard to meet the needs of the community and provide relevant resources and inclusive services. The Deputy County Attorney is responsible for representing Tompkins County in various legal proceedings including prosecuting juvenile delinquency and Persons in Need of Supervision (PINS) matters, civil litigation and administrative hearings, preparation of contracts, local laws, resolutions, and legal opinions for the Tompkins County Legislature and all departments of the County. If you have admission to the Bar in New York State AND at least seven years of experience as a practicing attorney, they want you to apply.
