Posted By: Kennedy Williams on December 06, 2021 Pepsi is shining a light on HBCUs and their bands in a brand new commercial for the 2021 SWAC Championship game. The 60-second commercial, titled "The Halftime Game" is directed by HBCU grad Alan Ferguson and will feature FAMU's "Marching 100" and Jackson State's "Sonic Boom of the South." "At PepsiCo, we’ve committed to supporting HBCUs year-round and I’m honored to help shine a light on these marching bands with this new spot airing during one of the largest games of the season,” said Chauncey Hamlett, CMO/VP of PBNA, South Division. “We wanted to spotlight these two incredible bands because we know that in HBCU culture, the game is not just about football, but also the energy, hype, and history these bands bring to halftime and beyond.” The commercial is just the latest Pepsi effort to show the brand's commitment to supporting and celebrating HBCUs. From official partnerships with JSU Head Coach Deion Sanders and the NAtion Battle of the Bands to large donations and HBCU internship programs, Pepsi continues to show love to our beloved institutions.
