Howard University Alumna and Entrepreneur Dominique King Creates App that Makes it Easier to Give Back to HBCUs!
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on December 08, 2021

Howard University Alumna and Entrepreneur Dominique King is paying it forward in a major way!

"I Heart My HBCU" is an app that helps HBCU graduates and enthusiasts give back to their beloved institutions in an easy and passive way. Through the app, users can round up credit or debit purchases to the nearest dollar and donate the change to their favorite HBCU.

According to News One, each donation is tax-deductible and goes towards "the creation of scholarships, the advancement of academic and sports programs, campus revitalization projects and other endowments."

New One also recently reported that the "I Heart My HBCU" platform has partnered with Lousiana HBCU Xavier University to help make attending Black institutions more accessible to young Black students across the country.

"Through the pact, the New Orleans-based university is setting out to have upwards of 10,000 individuals join the XULA donor community on the platform. I Heart My HBCU will donate $1 for up to $10,000 raised. King says she created the app to preserve the rich legacies of historically Black colleges and universities and ensure they are around for generations to come."

It's no secret that we LOVE our HBCUs, so we are so glad to see that more and more people are recognizing these schools as incubators of greatness and giving to make sure that HBCUs can continue to impact the world!

Find out how you can download the app and support the cause here: https://www.iheartmyhbcu.org/.
