Master P's Son Hercy Miller to Leave Tennessee State Basketball Due to Lack of Medical Resources
|
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on December 10, 2021 There was a lot of press celebrating the fact that earlier this year, Master P's son Hercy Miller made the decision to attend HBCU Tennesee State. Now its looking like Hercy will be leaving the school due to a lack of medical resources after Miller suffered a hip injury. Master P believes that his son did not receive adequate medical attention after getting hurt during the first game of the season and that the wrong diagnosis almost led to the end of Hercy's blooming basketball career. “We’ve got a great program at Tennessee State, we’ve got great people, we loved the culture, we just don’t have enough trainers,” Master P said. “We don’t have enough medical people to take care of what needs to be taken care of. We don’t have the technology that the Dukes and all these major universities have. An injury like this could have been prevented.” The Music Mogul told The Tennessean that he does not blame TSU, but the clear disparities in medical and other resources at HBCUs compared to PWIs. The TSU sports medicine depart spoke out following Miller's statements to say that the school's department is "not underfunded at all" and that they are growing and doing well. Master P responded saying, “How can we help HBCUs if we’re going to sugarcoat the truth? Then we are failing the next generation,” he said. “What do we need to fundraise for if staff members are saying we have everything we need?” What are your thoughts about Hercy leaving TSU and what Master P says about HBCUs?
