Posted By: Kennedy Williams on December 20, 2021 Environmental organization Pacific Environmental is looking for HBCU graduates and Black professionals with relevant experience in successful policy advocacy and organizing to fill its Climate Campaigner, Clean Ports Northwest position. Could you be a right fit? Pacific Environment seeks to protect communities and wildlife of the Pacific Rim. They support community leaders to fight climate change, protect the oceans, build just societies, and move away from fossil fuels toward a green economy. The Climate Campaigner, Clean Ports Northwest will help Pacific Environment move ports to 100% zero-emission shipping. They will develop and lead strategies focusing on major Northwest ports, including the Ports of Seattle, Tacoma, Vancouver, and the Northwest Seaport Alliance. The Campaigner will design, plan and execute grassroots advocacy campaigns to effect changes at the local and state levels. They will build and cultivate relationships with community partners, labor partners, environmental justice partners, industry stakeholders, and more to ensure a broad base of support for campaign goals. The ideal candidate has a record of accomplishment of successful grassroots organizing and local, state, and/or multi-state campaigning, especially on environmental, justice, infrastructure, and/or transportation issues. (Please note: Shipping experience is not a prerequisite for this position; we are most interested in candidates with a record of accomplishment of successful grassroots organizing and winning campaigns.) The Climate Campaigner, Clean Ports Northwest will report to Pacific Environment’s Climate Campaign Director or the Clean Ports Campaign Manager. They will be part of a regional campaign team working to end fossil fuel pollution from ships, surge production of 100% clean maritime fuels and propulsion solutions, and advance environmental justice in frontline and fence-line communities.
