Art Briles hired as OC at Grambling State University - set to join HC Hue Jackson
|
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on February 24, 2022 Art Briles, a former Baylor Bears head coach who was fired in 2016 because of a major sexual assault scandal, has been hired by Grambling State University as its offensive coordinator. He will join forces with current head coach Hue Jackson, who was newly hired and is the former head coach of the Cleveland Browns. Despite the lengthy investigation into Briles time at Baylor, it was determined that he did not violate any NCAA rules and therefore no penalties are attached to the new hire of Briles by Grambling State. Briles, 66, was the head coach of Baylor from 2008 - 2015. Previously he was the head coach at Houston, an assistant at Texas Tech and was a high school coach in Texas. In 2017, a team from the Canadian Football League tried to hire Briles, but the offer was rescinded because of public backlash. In 2018, Briles coached a football team in Italy. In 2019, Southern Miss' head coach tried to hire Briles as an offensive coordinator but school officials overruled that decision.
