Art Briles: Here Today, Gone Tomorrow
|
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on March 03, 2022 Only days after Art Briles was hired by Grambling State University as the football team's offensive coordinator, he resigned. Briles, former head coach for Baylor University, resigned from his position with Grambling amidst the fallout from his hiring earlier this month. The fallout pertained to Briles’ previous firing from Baylor University in 2016 after a campus sexual assault investigation involving Baylor football team members. Baylor University remains on NCAA probation due to the findings of the investigation. Former Grambling coach, alum, Washington QB, and Superbowl winner, Doug Williams weighed in heavily on the Briles’ hiring, “I’m not a fan at all. I’m very, very disappointed in Grambling. I really am.” Many Grambling supporters shared Williams’ sentiment. Upon Briles’ resignation, he gave a statement, “Unfortunately, I feel that my continued presence will be a distraction to you and your team, which is the last thing that I want. I have the utmost respect [for] the university, and your players.” The search goes on for a Grambling State University Offensive Coordinator.
