Posted By: Kennedy Williams on March 08, 2022 L.S. Taplin’s Book, “The Brown Boy Talk”, tackles the heavy subject of racism. The book’s narrative has a loving and gentle way of explaining the difficult subject to “Brown Boys”. Taplin is a veteran educator. Her literary works present insightful perspectives on Jesus, family, and racism. “The Brown Boy Talk” celebrates the little Black boys and their immeasurable worth. “The world has long known that in every expanse and by every measure, brown boys are extraordinarily blessed with great purpose and remarkable promise.” The book also delves into the ugliness of racism and how children should handle racist encounters. Taplin is, “ intentional about using her literary works to provoke deeper thought and to stimulate more engaged, more impactful and more courteous conversations among people from starkly different backgrounds.” Taplin’s second book, “Froggawally and The Great Big Leap” is an illustrated three-act play in storybook format that highlights the lessons and successes that result from having plain ol' good character and dedication to complete a task well. “ Taplin’s books are unique and represent subjects that are rarely addressed in children’s books. We love to see Black authors that encourage and uplift our children. SOURCE: lstaplin.org If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
