Posted By: Kennedy Williams on April 13, 2022 Jackson State University women's basketball head coach Tomekia Reed headlines the 2022 Achieving Coaching Excellence Honor Roll. Reed, who was named SWAC Coach of the Year, and BOXTOROW National Coach of the Year, adds to her accolades after leading Jackson State to a school-record 23 wins this season as the Lady Tigers became the first women's basketball team in conference history to go 18-0 in league play. The Lady Tigers have won 31 consecutive conference games dating to the 2020-21 season and nearly posted a historic NCAA Tournament win in the first round against LSU. In four years, Reed has led JSU to three consecutive SWAC Regular Season Championships (2020, 2021, 2022), two consecutive SWAC Tournament Championships (2021, 2022), and two straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Started after the 2019-20 season, the College Basketball Coaching Honor Roll annually recognizes leaders in women's and men's college basketball that demonstrate tenets of coaching excellence that include on and off the court performance, community involvement, and serving as champions for college basketball, their coaching peers, and the coaching profession.
