The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announces its 2022 Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Year, as voted by the CIAA Track & Field Coaches Association and Sports Information Directors Association. These outstanding student-athletes will be formally recognized tomorrow during the CIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Fayetteville State University senior Mya Johnson was named Women's Track Athlete of the Year and Fayetteville State University senior Shania Ingram was named Women's Field Athlete of the Year. Men's Track Athlete of the Year was Johnson C. Smith University freshman Warren Williams and Lincoln University junior Glenn Butler was named Men's Field Athlete of the Year.

Johnson was one of the top hurdlers in the CIAA and the Atlantic Region during the 2022 outdoor season. The senior from Greensboro, NC native posted the fastest 100-meter and 400-meter hurdle times in the conference and the region this season with times of 14:30 and 1:01.19, respectively. Her 400-meter hurdle time also ranks 17th nationally.



Johnson is also member of FSU’s 4x100-meter relay team, which has the CIAA’s second fastest time at 46.97, as well as the 4x400-meter relay team that posted a league-best time of 3:53.12. Both relay times ranks second in the Atlantic Region this outdoor season.

Ingram is a top 25 performer nationally and top three performer in the region in the high jump and has the CIAA's best mark in the event at 1.70 meters (5'7"). She also owns the seventh-best mark in the league in the high jump this season at 5.16 meters (16’11.25). A native of St. Ann, Jamaica, Ingram is an NCAA provisional qualifier in the high jump.

Williams is an NCAA provisional qualifier and top seven performer in Division II in the 100-meter hurdles with a CIAA-best time of 14.03, which is also second in the Atlantic Region. The Tracy, CA native also ranks seventh in the conference in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.76, which ranks 17th in the region.

Butler is the CIAA's top performer, second in the Atlantic Region, and seventh nationally in the high jump this season with a mark of 2.13m (6.11'75"). The Greenburgh, NY native is also second in the league in the long jump with a mark of 7.06m (23’2"). Butler is an NCAA provisional qualifier in the high jump this outdoor season.
