Posted By: Kennedy Williams on June 19, 2022

Langston University head women's basketball Kevin Herod announced the newest addition to his coaching staff in Kimiere Hawkins as assistant coach for the Lady Lions.

"I want to thank Dr. (Kent) Smith, Director of Athletics Donnita Rogers and Coach Kevin Herod for believing in me and allowing me to come with him on this new journey. Not only does Coach (Kevin) Herod care about player development and team chemistry on the court but he also cares about the mental health of his student athletes," assistant coach Kimiere Hawkins said. "I am excited to be an apart of not only a phenomenal athletic department, but also excited to be a part of the women's basketball program here at Langston University. I look forward to years of success as we embark on this era.

L's Up!"

"Could not be happier to have Coach (Kimiere) Hawkins back on our staff. Her professionalism, knowledge of the game, commitment to excellence and her understanding the needs of our players will set us up for success," head coach Kevin Herod said. "We are extremely excited about our staff which will continue to be the backbone of the Langston University women's basketball program."

Hawkins recently completed her first season as an assistant coach under Coach (Kevin) Herod at Talladega College. Prior to her arrival at Talladega College, Hawkins served as an assistant coach at LSU-Shreveport and was a member of the coaching staff that won the 2019-20 Red River Athletic Conference Championship. She currently holds an MA in Educational Leadership from LSUS and a B.S. in Sociology from Southern Utah.
