Jackson State University women's basketball assistant coach LaShonda Cousin has been named as one of the nation's most impactful mid-major assistant coaches, according to Silver Waves Media.
Just completing her fourth season in the program, Cousin has been instrumental in the success of the Jackson State women's basketball, playing an integral part in three consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference regular season titles, two SWAC Tournament Championships, and back-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament.
JSU went 23-7 this past season, including a perfect 18-0 mark in league play enroute to 21 consecutive wins in reaching the NCAA Tournament.
During Cousin's tenure at JSU, the program has had six student-athletes earning First Team All-SWAC honors, and three named to the second team, producing both a WNBA Draft Pick (Ameshya Williams-Holliday) and an U.S. Olympian (Alexis Roberts in Deaflympics). In the classroom, the program had a cumulative 3.08 GPA in 2021-22.
