Dr. Rolanda Horn Selected to Serve on the National Association of Student Personnel Administrator's Center for Women Board

Posted By: Kennedy Williams on June 29, 2022 The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) coordinator for Alabama State University, Dr. Rolanda Horn, who is also a “double alumna” of ASU, has been selected to serve on the National Association of Student Personnel Administrator's (NASPA) Center for Women Board. Horn holds both a Bachelor's degree (2000) in Therapeutic Recreation and a PhD (2019) in Educational Leadership, Policy, and Law from the University. Horn, a native of Clarke County, Ala., and a first-generation college graduate for her family, is excited to be able to have a national “voice” for women's issues. "I am humbled by this opportunity and excited to serve as a member of the NASPA's Center for Women Board," Horn said. "Not only do I want to contribute to research in the field, but I also want to serve as an advocate and mentor for those women aspiring to gain leadership positions in higher education. There have been many gains over the years for women across many spectrums, but this is an opportunity for me to promote gender equity and diversity in a space that has both individual and societal impacts for many." Horn credits ASU with providing her with a quality education and with introducing her to faculty and staff who challenged her intellect and fueled her desire to help others. "Working in the University's office of Institutional Effectiveness has allowed me to be in close proximity with many ASU leaders throughout numerous academic areas who advocate scholarship and pride, which includes Dr. Christine Thomas and Dr. Aquanetta Pinkard; who both are among those who have provided me with the inspiration and leadership to always strive for the best," Horn said.
