Tarver Named Fisk Athletic Director

Posted By: Kennedy Williams on July 11, 2022 Fisk University President Dr. Vann Newkirk announced that Fisk Gymnastics Head Coach Corrinne Tarver will assume the role as athletic director at the university. Tarver, who was hired in February as the gymnastics coach, comes to Fisk from the University of Pennsylvania. She has an impressive resume in athletic administration. Tarver was the Associate Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at Stockton (NJ) University. She also served as the Director of Athletic Compliance at Syracuse University. "I am honored to be named to the top position in the athletic department," said Tarver. "I look forward to working with the coaches and athletes. I would like to thank Dr. Newkirk for putting his trust in me. I am ready to get to work." Tarver takes over immediately for Dr. Larry Glover, who was on his second tenure as athletic director at Fisk. Glover will now shift to a new role as the leading Fisk's expanded Teacher Education Program. Glover, a Fisk alum, came to the university as a basketball player. He also was the head basketball coach before former NBA star Kenny Anderson was hired. "We are pleased to welcome Coach Tarver to Fisk University," said Newkirk. "She is highly qualified. She will lead our program to top honors. I would like to thank Coach Larry Glover for his service. I am looking forward to the future of Fisk Athletics."
