Posted By: Kennedy Williams on July 11, 2022 Dr. Logan Hampton, President of Lane College, was named Jackson’s Man of the Year. Dr. Hampton received the award when the 76th annual Exchange Club banquet was held in May at the Double Tree Hotel by Hilton. The annual “Man of the Year” ceremony is an Exchange Club tradition dating back to the mid-1940’s and has included several Lanites and Lane supporters including Judge Nathan Pride, Trustee Gary Taylor, as well as the first recipient of the Exchange Club’s Man of the Year in 1946, Issac Burton Tigrett, founder of Hard Rock Café and House of Blues. Dr. Hampton was named the 10th president of Lane College in 2014 and has implemented several programs to make the College more active in the Jackson and East Chester area, including the community garden, additional summer camps, and establishing Lane as a veteran-friendly campus. In addition, throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, President Hampton has been active in supporting the greater East Chester area of Jackson.
