JSU's Stewart Named NCAA Triples Champion

Posted By: Kennedy Williams on July 13, 2022 Jackson State University softball outfielder Lauren Stewart added to her 2022 accolades as she was named NCAA Statistical Champion in triples for the recently concluded season. Stewart had 12 triples on the season, an average of 0.26 per contest during the season for JSU softball, which finished tied for second in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Eastern Division standings before losing in the SWAC Tournament semifinals. Stewart, a second-team All-SWAC selection, was at her best during the tournament. She batted .556 with 10 hits in 18 at bats during the five-game run. Stewart had at least one triple in each of the last four games, including two triples in a win over Grambling. Of her 10 hits, Stewart hit five triples while scoring eight times and driving in six runs in making the All-Tournament Team.
