UAPB Football: Mark Evans II Named To East-West Bowl 1,000 List

UAPB Football: Mark Evans II Named To East-West Bowl 1,000 List
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on July 15, 2022

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff offensive lineman Mark Evans II continues to add recognition to his football resume, as he was named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1,000 list Wednesday. He is the first Golden Lion player ever to be selected. Evans is also one of just 25 HBCU student-athletes to make the list.

The Shrine Bowl 1,000 is a comprehensive list of the top 1,000 all-star game eligible players at the FBS, FCS, Division II, Division III, and NAIA levels. Every year, about 1,000 all-star game eligible players are drafted, signed after the draft, or attend a rookie mini-camp, and the Shrine Bowl's aim is for the Shrine Bowl 1,000 to serve as a look into the scouting process and begin to preview players from schools who are all-star game eligible who may be invited to the 2023 East-West Shrine Bowl and 2023 NFL Draft class.

The comprehensive list includes players from all four levels of college football and consultation with NFL and college personnel.

Evans is a three-time First Team (SWAC) All-Conference, three-time Boxtorow All-American, Boxtorow All-American Honoree, HBCU Classic All-American, and Rated top-10 HBCU player by Pro Football Network. Evans started in all 11 games and was tagged on several NFL scouts' draft boards as players to watch.

He played a significant role in helping UAPB finish in the top 6th (SWAC) in total yards per game (1,383), ranked in the top in the conference in knockdowns, and gave up only one sack for the Golden Lions.
