VUU Appoints Mylaka Simpson as Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management and Director of Graduate Admissions

VUU Appoints Mylaka Simpson as Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management and Director of Graduate Admissions
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on July 21, 2022

Virginia Union University is announcing new leaders in its academic and administrative teams.

“Accomplished people build top-tier universities,” said Dr. Hakim J. Lucas, President and CEO. “Virginia Union University is welcoming experienced new leaders who make great things happen and who will help propel us toward our goal of becoming Best in Class.”

Mylaka Simpson is the newly appointed Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management and Director of Graduate Admissions. Since 2020, Simpson has served as the Director of Graduate Admissions at VUU. She has over 17 years of progressive experience in higher education in the public and private sectors. Mylaka has held enrollment positions at Alabama A&M University and Bethune Cookman University.

As an enrollment expert Mylaka has worked with several professional, higher education-focused organizations such as the Association for Graduate Enrollment Management (NAGAP), Council of Historically Black Graduate Schools (CHBGS), First Coast Higher Education Alliance (FCHEA), Edward Waters College Student Advisory Board, and Central Florida Higher Education Association (CFHEA).

"I have had the privilege to work at some great organizations, which allowed me to serve my community and expand my professional network. I am excited to continue at Virginia Union University, where the rich culture is impressive, and I have the opportunity to work with a great team. The enrollment management team members are experienced, hard-working professionals, and I am honored to lead," Simpson said.

"Whether an established leader or an emerging one, Virginia Union is where individuals worldwide can get the skills they need to build the careers they imagine. As AVP of Enrollment, I am here to get you to that outcome by helping you discover which program is right for you and aiding you through the enrollment process."

In this transition of roles, VUU would like to thank Victoria Nichols for her service and leadership as Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management. We wish her all the best as she progresses in her professional career path.
