BSU: Cloutier Caps Freshman Campaign with NCAA Statistical Champion Honor
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on July 26, 2022

Bowie State's standout and right fielder Alyssa Cloutier was named the 2022 NCAA Statistical Champion for runs scored per game, capping off an outstanding freshman campaign.

Cloutier, a native of Derwood, Md., led the nation with 57 runs scored in 41 games for an average of 1.39 per outing during her first year as a Bulldog.

In addition to helping Bowie State to a 24-20-1 overall record – the program's first 20-win season since 2017, a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Runner-Up finish, and a Northern Division title – Cloutier was named the 2022 CIAA Rookie of the Year while also earning All-CIAA Second Team recognition and an All-Rookie Team selection while leading the team in runs and stolen bases (36).

Bowie State softball program's last NCAA statistical champion was Tricia Corbin, whose 1.71 runs per game (58 total) in 34 games led all Division II players in 2009.
