Hampton University, one of the nation’s leading Historically Black Colleges & Universities, is pleased to announce the appointment of Carol Crabbe as assistant dean of the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications.

Crabbe brings to the university more than a decade of experience as an international strategic public relations consultant.

“We are very excited to have Carol Crabbe join us as our assistant dean to support our new global vision,” said Julia A. Wilson, dean of the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications. Her expertise in managing cultural communications programs and managing international delegations, will be invaluable to us as we implement our school’s new goals.

One key goal is to be recognized as a leading communications school in developing culturally literate, diverse and internationally competitive journalists and strategic communicators with high standards of excellence and ethics.”

A native of Ghana, West Africa, Crabbe earned a master’s degree in media and public affairs from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.

She has worked with Wilson Global Communications LLC in the United States since 2008, managed more than 40 international delegations and assisted with major international public relations projects in nine countries around the world. Crabbe has expertise in cross-cultural communications and speaks three languages.

In her role as assistant dean, she will provide administrative management assistance to the dean, facilitate student career development and assist in raising the profile of SHSJC. Crabbe also will be responsible for coordinating international partnerships for the school and managing international and study-abroad programs for journalism and communications students and cross-cultural research opportunities for the faculty.
