XULA Picked No. 1 in RRAC Preseason Coaches Poll

XULA Picked No. 1 in RRAC Preseason Coaches Poll
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on August 11, 2022

Defending champion Xavier University of Louisiana earned the No. 1 spot Monday in the Red River Athletic Conference 2022 women's volleyball preseason coaches poll.

The Gold Nuggets received 6-of-9 first-place votes and 78 points. Our Lady of the Lake, which shared the 2021 regular-season championship with XULA, was No. 2 in the poll with three first-place votes and 75 points. Huston-Tillotson was third with 62 points.

This will be XULA's second season in the RRAC after 40 years in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. For the past 11 years XULA won conference regular-season and tournament championships and qualified for NAIA nationals.

This is the ninth consecutive year that XULA volleyball was picked first in a conference coaches poll. That streak began in the GCAC in 2014.

XULA will open its 15th season Aug. 26 and play its home opener Sept. 3.
