Virginia Union University Appoints Tunesha Witcher as Director of VUU Global and Online Learning

Virginia Union University Appoints Tunesha Witcher as Director of VUU Global and Online Learning
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on August 11, 2022

Virginia Union University is announcing new leaders in its academic and administrative teams.

“Accomplished people build top-tier universities,” said Dr. Hakim J. Lucas, President and CEO. “Virginia Union University is welcoming experienced new leaders who make great things happen and who will help propel us toward our goal of becoming Best in Class.”

Tunesha Witcher is the newly appointed Director of VUU Global and Online Learning in the Division of Academic Affairs. Since 2017, Witcher has served the VUU campus community as an Academic Instructional Technologist and Director of Integrated Technology.

In 2018, Witcher developed VUU's first online faculty training course and assisted the university in obtaining 100% approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to implement its first fully (100%) online degree program.

Witcher also played a significant role in transitioning students and faculty to remote learning during COVID-19, where she supported over 70 faculty, deans, and adjunct professors with training for virtual learning.

Witcher has 14 years of higher education experience in technology instruction and online course design and ten years of faculty development. From 2008 - 2017 Witcher served as an LMS Administrator and Computer Instructor for East Coast Polytechnic Institute School of Health Sciences.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Virginia State University. She is a Six Sigma Black Belt and is proficient in Jenzabar and Canvas Learning Management Systems. In addition, she has certifications as an International SCRUM Master, Microsoft Innovative Educator, Microsoft MIE Trainer, Google Virtual Higher Education Trainer, Medical Billing, and Coding Specialist. She will complete a Master of Science in Learning Experience Design and Educational Technology from Western Governors University in December 2022. In June, Witcher was acknowledged as VUUs Staff Member of the Month.

Witcher’s goal is to strategically align VUU Global with the university's mission.

“VUU Global will enhance the quality of online teaching and learning, designing online courses to accommodate the learning style and needs of all students, thus, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of online learning and tools and online user-accessibility to engage learners globally.”
