Stillman Named Champions of Character Five-Star Institution
|
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on August 11, 2022 Stillman College has been named an NAIA Champions of Character Five-Star Silver Award winner for 2021-2022, the national office announced July 28. It is Stilman's second Champions of Character Five-Star recognition, earning Bronze in 2019-2020. The silver award is presented to institutions who score between 75-89 on their Champions of Character scorecard. Each year, the NAIA presents the awards to member institutions based on their Champions of Character scorecard, which includes points for character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition and character promotion. Institutions also earn points based on exceptional student-athlete grade point averages and by having minimal to no ejections during competition throughout the course of the academic year. There were 157 awards presented for 2021-2022. Stillman College joins Brewton-Parker College and Loyola University (La.) in earning Silver honors. Blue Mountain College (one of 28 institutions to score 100 on its report card) and the University of Mobile were Gold recipients, while Middle Georgia State University was a Bronze recipient. With six of its 12 members receiving an award, the Southern States Athletic Conference was recognized as an NAIA Champions of Character Five-Star Conference.
