With their sights set on a successful year two in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, Bethune-Cookman volleyball welcomes in James Goodridge as Assistant Coach prior to the 2022 season.

Goodridge brings over 15 years of assistant and head coaching experience ranging from Division I to Division III. Most recently, he served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of North Carolina - Greensboro, Prior to that, stops in his coaching career included University of Virginia and University at Buffalo. as well as Division II's Northwood University, Lees-McRae College, Mount Olive College and Division III Springfield College.

As the recruiting coordinator at UNCG, Goodridge helped garner a number of accolades for the Spartan squad, one of which was bringing in a High Honorable Mention recognition for PrepVolleyball.com's Top 30 Recruiting Classes of 2019. He also helped to guide the team to the program's first NCAA Division I post-season tournament berth, and coached one SoCon Player of the Year, one Co-SIDA Academic All-American, one SoCon Player of the Month honoree, six SoCon Player of the Week selections, and three All-SoCon team selections.
Before arriving in Greensboro, Goodridge served as the Volunteer Assistant at the University of Virginia where he worked primarily with the Cavalier's passing scheme and setter position. Here he coached four players to Top 10 finishes in six different statistical categories in the conference, in addition to obtaining one AVCA All-Region honor, one All-ACC team selection, and one All-ACC Academic team selection.

Prior to his stop in Charlottesville, Goodridge worked at Northwood University as the head coach of the Division II program in 2014-15. With Northwood, Goodridge coached ten players to a Top 15 ranking in 38 different conference statistical categories, as well as coaching one Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) second team selection, two GLIAC honorable mention selections and 21 All-Academic honorees.

From 2013-14, Goodridge worked as an assistant coach at Buffalo. With the Bulls, he coordinated the team's blocking scheme and finished the 2014 season ranked 17th nationally. His defense had one individual ranked fifth in the nation in digs per set, with one ranked 33rd in blocks per set. He coached two Academic All-MAC selections, six MAC Players of the week, two first team All-MAC selections, a MAC Defensive Player of the Year and had one player earn an AVCA All-Region selection.

Goodridge has also seen action as an NCAA Head and Assistant Coach working with Men's Volleyball teams.



During another stint in the state of North Carolina, Goodridge worked for Lees-McRae College from 2010-13. As the men's head coach, Goodridge led the team to top 15 rankings in aces per set three times, as well as earning a ranking of 13th in digs per set and blocks per set. With the Bobcats, Goodridge coached ten All Conference selections, a Freshman of the Year, two Conference Player of the Weeks, and a DI-II National Player of the Week. Along with serving as the men's head coach, he was an assistant for the women's team for three years. The Bobcats finished fourth in the nation in aces per set and had two individuals rank in the top 11 of aces per set and another in the top 20 of hitting percentage, nationally.

He served in a similar role at Mount Olive College from 2008-09 before his time at Lees-McRae. With the Trojans, Goodridge served as the Associate head coach for the men's program as well as serving as the women's volleyball head coach. Under his tutelage, the men's team ranked fourth nationally in aces per set, tenth in blocks per set, and 14th in digs per set. He also had one player rank eighth nationally in aces per set, another at tenth in blocks per set and another ranked 11th in digs per set. The women's team had several individual accolades with one player ranking sixth nationally in hitting percentage and 19th in aces per set, and another ranking 25th in kills per set. The women's team had four all-conference selections, two conference Players of the Week, two All-Tournament Team selections and six All-Region selections.

Goodridge started his coaching career in 2006-07 at Springfield College as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's programs. With Springfield, he coached three All-American selections, two All-Conference selections as well as four Academic All-Conference selections on the women's side. With the men, he coached three All-Americans, a DIII Newcomer of the year and had two players earn All-Tournament selections.

His other coaching experience includes USA Volleyball High Performance, North Carolina Summer Clinic, Michigan State College Prep Camp, Buffalo Summer Clinic, Appalachian State Summer Clinic and Florida State Summer Clinic coaching.

Goodridge is no stranger to the state of Florida, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management from Florida State University in 2006, before earning a Master of Arts in Sport and Fitness: Sport Leadership and Coaching from the University of Central Florida in 2009. He earned a second Master's degree from California University of Pennsylvania in Exercise Science and Health Promotion: Sport Psychology, graduating in 2016.
