VUU's Byers, Burden Named Preseason All-CIAA
|
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on August 16, 2022 Virginia Union University's Jada Byers and Armonii Burden have been named Preseason All-CIAA, it was announced at the CIAA Football Media Day on Wednesday, July 20, in Roanoke, Va. Byers, a sophomore running back from Hammonton, NJ, led all CIAA rookies with 910 rushing yards, averaging 5.4 yards per carry. He led the conference with 12 rushing touchdowns. He was named the CIAA Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2021. Burden, a redshirt sophomore defensive end from Williamsburg, Va., and majoring in Marketing, recorded 30 tackles and six sacks for the Panthers last season. "Most people think (Byers) turned it on a little later in the season," said VUU Head Football Coach Dr. Alvin Parker. "But he rushed for over 100 yards against Valdosta State. I think he might have been the only running back to have done that." Season passes for the 2022 Virginia Union University Football Season are now on sale in the VUU Athletic Department in the Belgium Building The passes are $100 and will enable fans to attend all five regular-season football games this season, beginning with the Willard Bailey Classic, where VUU will meet Virginia University of Lynchburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1. The $100.00 cost represents a $25.00 savings over paying individually for each game. Your season pass purchase provides support for our student-athletes and coaches for the tireless efforts that they put in to raise the brand of VUU ATHLETICS.
