SAU Leads CIAA Schools With Most D2 ADA Academic Honorees

SAU Leads CIAA Schools With Most D2 ADA Academic Honorees
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on August 16, 2022

Twenty-five student-athletes from Saint Augustine's University (SAU) earned 2021-22 Academic Awards from the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (ADA) on Tuesday. The 25 honorees are the most in the CIAA and tied for third-highest among Division II HBCUs who nominated.

Overall, a record-breaking 16,639 student-athletes from 169 institutions were recognized for their academic achievements. This is the most since the inception of the award's program in 2007-08. Click HERE to view the honoree list.

The SAU recipients are listed below. In order for a student-athlete to receive an award, the institution's athletic director must be a dues-paying member of the D2 ADA.

The student-athlete must also have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, completed a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work and been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year (Given the continued challenges institutions have had this year when it comes to participation, all athletes who met bullet point items 1 and 2 were still eligible as long as they were an active member of the roster during the academic year).
