The Virginia Union University Golf Team has received the National Academic Award Recognition from the Golf Coaches Association of America.

This recognition is for golf teams with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the Academic Year 2021-22.

There were seven NCAA Divisional teams, including DI, DII, DIII, NAIA, HBCUs, NJCAA DI and NJCAA DII that were recognized as having GPAs of 3.5 or higher and VUU's Golf Team finished with a team GPA of 3.73. Virginia Union finished as an Academic National Champion and #1 amongst the HBCU's. This is the team's third year being recognized since becoming members of the Golf Coaches of America Association.

"I am proud of the focus of this team towards their performance on the golf course as well as their academic success, " said VUU Head Golf Coach E. Lee Coble.  "They truly exemplify the term 'Student-Athlete.'"
