How to Strengthen Your College Application

That said, there are many ways in which you can strengthen the application so you will have a better chance of getting into the school of your choosing. Here are just some of the ways in which you can craft your application so it will stand out to admissions officers. Writing an Essay That Gets NoticedMany applicants dread the essay portion of the college application. After all, it can be difficult to express yourself in the manner that is expected, and some potential students may not have confidence in their writing skills in general. Remember, to stand out, simply write about a subject that is super-important to you. Reflect on the subject matter and write from the heart. Admissions officers are looking for what it is that makes you unique, yet still a great fit for their respective campuses. To be sure of your submission, have a trusted friend, relative, or teacher review your work. Remember, it is fine if it takes you several drafts to get it right. Applying to Schools EarlyA proven method for conveying your interest in a particular university is by applying early. Just know that you can only apply to one school early, so be sure that it is your first choice. This means that instead of the typical application period of early winter, with a springtime response, you will be able to apply in November or early December and receive a response within weeks! This is great if you need a quick response from an online university for military members. Acing Your SATsIf you focus on studying diligently for your SATs, ACTs, and APs, you should be able to demonstrate to admissions officers your wide range of skills and education via your test scores. These tests can also showcase your ability to learn and apply the knowledge that you have absorbed. Of course, outside of cramming, the best way to perform well on these exams is to take preparation courses and numerous practice tests. Obtaining Glowing Letters of RecommendationAsk a favorite teacher, a boss, or someone you go to church with, or volunteered with, to write you a letter of recommendation. Have them write about your strengths of character, how committed you are to your own success and the improvement of the community, and how just hard working you are. Try to gather multiple letters since the more you can get, the better a picture they will paint. In conclusion, there are a few things that you can do to differentiate your college application from the countless others sent to your dream school.
