Johnson C. Smith University President Armbrister to Speak on the Power of HBCU Talent During HBCU Heroes Career Fest

Smith University’s 14th president, will be a part of a panel of HBCU presidents speaking on the importance of HBCU graduates Friday, Aug. 26, 2022. The panel is one event that is a part of the 2022 HBCU Celebration Game Career Fest at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His discussion will feature how HBCU graduates can bridge the gaps of corporate DEI efforts. After all, HBCUs graduate 46 percent of all Black women engineers, and more than half of all Black professionals. Armbrister will be joined with the presidents of Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, North Carolina Central University, Fayetteville State University, Elizabeth City State University, Winston Salem State University and North Carolina A&T State University. The free event will also feature pro-athlete speakers such as Deems May, Dwight Hollier and Roy Barker; a career fair featuring companies like Amazon, Warner Brothers, Discovery and Paul Hastings; a tech talk from Vinne Rock, a Naughty by Nature rapper and tech entrepreneur; and stroll-offs from various Divine Nine organizations.
