Dr. Tobias Morgan Announced as New Dean of Students at Shaw University

Posted By: Kennedy Williams on September 13, 2022 Effective Sept. 6, 2022, Dr. Tobias Raphael Morgan will begin his tenure as the new Dean of Students at Shaw University. With over a decade in higher education experience, Morgan hails from Clinton College where he held the title of Inaugural Assistant Dean & Assistant Vice President for the Division of Student Success. He also brings a vast array of experiences from across many Student Affairs functional areas (i.e., Student Activities, Fraternity & Sorority Life, Housing and Residence Life, Diversity & Inclusion, First-Year Experience, Assessment and Divisional Development). Morgan also has held leadership positions at Howard University, Coppin State University, Tennessee State University, Kentucky State University and Loyola University of Maryland. Shaw University Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Ashton Cleveland said: “I’m very happy that Dr. Morgan is joining our team. He is a strong addition. I know that the students are excited for his arrival, and he’s assured me that the Student Life experience will reach new heights under his tenure.” Morgan obtained his bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, a master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from American InterContinental University, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Morgan State University. He has accumulated a wealth of knowledge in student engagement, leadership development, student government, student development, institutional policy, and accreditation. Morgan is a father, a proud brother of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc., a student-centered professional and a strong HBCU advocate. Shaw University President Dr. Paulette Dillard said, “As we start a new academic year, we are so excited to welcome Dr. Tobias Morgan to the Shaw University family as our new Dean of Students.
