Posted By: Kennedy Williams on September 14, 2022 Dillard University’s director of human resources, Brittney Richardson, has been selected as an honoree in CityBusiness’ 2022 Women of the Year and Nonprofit Organizations. The Women of the Year award recognizes women whose success and contributions in the community have moved the region forward. Richardson was selected as an honoree because of her servant leadership. She has been the University’s human resources director since 2015. In her role, she serves as a workforce advocate, and is responsible for implementing policies and practices that positively impact employees, as well as being an advisor and strategic partner to University administration. Richardson, who is a graduate of Tuskegee University, affirms that there is no place like attending or working at an HBCU. “The strong sense of community is the beauty of being a part of an HBCU. I’ve positioned myself as an ambassador for Dillard within my community because I am committed to seeing the University prosper,” said Richardson. In addition to her responsibilities at Dillard, Richardson was appointed to chair of the City of New Orleans Civil Service Commission; she was appointed to the Southern Region Board of College and University Professional Association of Human Resources (CUPA-HR), and is a board member for the National CUPA-HR Public Policy Committee; she has served as president of the Louisiana Mississippi Gulf Coast Chapter for CUPA-HR; and she was recognized for the Southern Region Distinguished Service Award in Human Resources. Richardson has also served on Ursuline Academy's Diversity Equity and Belonging Committee, where her daughter attends high school. “God has given me the knowledge and ability to contribute to the greater good of making our city and community better,” Richardson said. Honorees will be celebrated at an in-person event on Monday, November 14 at the New Orleans Museum of Art from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. SOURCE Dillard University If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
