The Arts Center/Gallery (ACG) at Delaware State University is excited to announce the presentation of Edward Loper II: The Journey of Perspective October 3-November 18, 2022. Please join the ACG in celebrating Mr. Loper’s at a reception on Friday, October 7, 2022, 5:00pm-8:00pm.

Wilmington, Delaware born Edward Loper II is a self-taught artist whose own technique, described as "a way to see", has lead him to success over the past five decades. Since the early 1960's, Loper's works have been showcased not only in the prestigious Barnes Foundation, but also in numerous national exhibitions, cultural festivals and publications. His paintings are collected not only by private collectors, but also corporate art collections including Wilmington Trust, Blue Cross, Christiana Care and Delaware Trust.

Loper taught art, photography and woodworking at Wilmington High School in the 1960's.

He also provided instruction in art, pottery and sculpture at the West End Neighborhood House and Kingwood Center. In the 1970's he headed the Visual Arts Department at Christiana Cultural Arts Center. He also attended the Barnes Foundation in Merlon, PA in 1977 to 1978.

The Journey of Perspective shares the significance of Loper’s prolific contributions to visual arts while simultaneously permitting the viewer access to Loper’s unique perspectives and vision.

“One year ago I was offered an incredible opportunity to show the treasures of my father Edward Loper II. With this opportunity, Shameka Jones and I have co-curated the most revealing exhibition my father and his work have ever had. Thirty original paintings accompanied by technical drawings sculpture and carvings will lovingly display examples of this great Journey of Perspective that my father has lived.” – Jamie Loper

The Arts Center/Gallery is located in the William C. Jason Library on Delaware State University’s Dover campus. Visitors to the ACG are encouraged to visit the ACG website (artgallery.desu.edu) or social media (@DSUARTS) for current visitor information.
