Mablene Krueger to Join Dillard as Interim Provost, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

Posted By: Kennedy Williams on September 16, 2022 Dillard University President Dr. Rochelle L. Ford has named Mablene Krueger interim provost and senior vice president for academic affairs. Krueger will be leaving her position as the vice president of strategic planning and partnerships at Roosevelt University in Chicago. With over 50 percent of students identifying as African American or Latinx, Roosevelt serves over 4,000 students. Krueger also served as president and provost of Robert Morris University-Illinois which is designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution. As interim provost, Krueger will lead both academic affairs and enrollment management functions and serve as a member of the president’s cabinet providing strategic advice on how Dillard can operate with greater synergy, efficiency and effectiveness using data to inform decision making. On August 24, Krueger began remotely meeting with Dillard team members to transition leadership from Yolanda Page, academic affairs vice president, and Monica White, interim vice president for enrollment management, and will begin formally on campus September 7, 2022. “Mablene Krueger is mission-driven and student-centered, and she understands the urban university setting very well,” said Ford. “As a former university president, she is adept in enrollment management and academic affairs, with a keen focus on student graduation, retention and persistence. We’re very fortunate to have her at Dillard to lead enrollment management and academic affairs.” Krueger brings over 25 years of executive level leadership experience in administration and an additional 15 years in the classroom as instructor and student mentor. Krueger has worked extensively with first-generation, diverse students from under-resourced communities. With her insight, Krueger has managed to increase admissions, enrollments and graduation rates. A first generation college student, Krueger is eager to transition to Dillard. “I’m a proud (and sometimes loud) first-generation college student and college graduate,” said Krueger. “As a college student, I felt ‘at home’ and respected for who I was. Meeting folks who grew up very different from me, challenged me and showed me options I never knew I had. I know we do this at Dillard, and I can't wait to be a part of that.” Krueger has been recognized with several honors for her work. She received the Distinguished Service Award from the Institute for Clinical Social Work in 2019, was named one of Crain’s Chicago Notable Women in Education in 2018, and she received the Award for Service from the National Society for Hispanic MBAs in 2005. Among her other leadership roles are the vice chairman of the Federation of Illinois Independent Colleges and Universities and member of the Junior Achievement of Chicago Executive Committee. Krueger is also a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission, a member of the Executive’s Club of Chicago and a member of the Equity Academy for Presidents and Cabinet, Partnership for College Completion. Krueger earned her Master of Business Administration and bachelor’s in management from the University of Illinois Springfield and her Associate of Applied Science from Robert Morris University - Illinois.
