How to Stop Self-Sabotaging

How to Stop Self-Sabotaging
Posted By: Dixie Somers on September 16, 2022

More common than most people realize, self-sabotaging is when your attitude and behavior come together to prevent you from achieving various goals and dreams. Very often, you may not even realize you are indeed sabotaging yourself. While this sounds like something that may be almost impossible to overcome, it is actually anything but that. Instead, you can use a few tricks here and there to get yourself back on track in no time. To stop self-sabotaging, here are some things you can try that will make your life much better.

Write in a Journal

When you start writing in a journal on a daily basis, you will begin to see certain behaviors and thought patterns that are holding you back from becoming the kind of person you really are on the inside. As you write down your thoughts and feelings each day, you can gain more insight about yourself, which will help you make better choices.

Stop Being Your Biggest Critic

When you try something and it does not go exactly as you hoped, stop being your biggest critic with that voice in your head that is calling you a failure. Instead, befriend yourself, give yourself credit for trying as hard as you could, and learn from your mistakes.

Get a Coach

While you may think only athletes need coaches, plenty of regular people like yourself do as well. If you have a problem with self-sabotage, enroll in an online self-sabotage coaching course to find a coach who can help you get through the tough times. Often called life coaches, these highly-trained professionals can help keep you motivated, show you how to overcome certain thoughts and behaviors, and work with you to help you set goals and develop an action plan for achieving everything on your list.

Make Small Changes

Remember, change does not have to come all at once. In fact, it rarely does. By starting to make small changes in certain areas of your life, you may find things start improving quicker than you expected. For example, if you try replacing one negative thought each day with a positive thought, it won't be long until the positive thoughts take over and help you see just how fantastic a person you really are to your family and friends.

Using these tips as often as possible, along with embracing your strengths and letting your common sense and good judgment guide your thinking, will soon have you saying so long to your self-sabotaging ways and hello to a vibrant new way of living.
