Alabama State University's COVPA Presents Dreamgirls, November 17-20

Posted By: Kennedy Williams on September 27, 2022 The Alabama State University, College of Visual and Performing Arts, Department of Theatre and Dance and Department of Music will present its production of “Dreamgirls” at 7 p.m. in the Leila Barlow Theatre. The play is directed by ASU’s Brian Martin. “Dreamgirls, is a Broadway musical about a story of greed and romance. The story revolves around three young women - Deena Jones, Effie White, and Lorrell Robinson – who desire to become pop stars and fulfill their dream when they are chosen to perform as backup singers for the legendary James "Thunder" Early. Dreamgirls runs November 17-20, 2022, at 7 p.m. nightly in ASU’s Leila Barlow Theatre. Tickets are $20 general admission, $15 for a group of 10 or more and $10 for ASU students. Tickets can be purchased online at ticketreturn.com and at the Box Office an hour prior to the show. There also will be matinee performances for students in public and private high schools. School groups must reserve seats by October 28, 2022. Tickets are $5 per student. Chaperones and drivers are admitted free of charge at the rate of one for every 10 paid students.
