Louisiana University to name residence hall after Xavier University of Louisiana's President Emeritus, Dr. Norman C. Francis

Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on October 12, 2022 Later this month, Loyola University New Orleans will celebrate the university’s first Black graduate, Dr. Norman C. Francis and his family in a series of events culminating in the renaming of one of its largest residence halls. Francis, who graduated from the Loyola University New Orleans School of Law in 1955, is a formal Civil Rights leader and one of the longest-serving presidents in history. The building at Loyola now known as Carrollton Hall will be renamed the Blanche and Norman C. Francis Family Hall, in honor of Dr. Francis, his wife Blanche and their six children in a formal Blessing and Dedication ceremony on Thursday, October 20. The week’s events are as follows: Friday, October 14, 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m., Audubon Room - Breaking Barriers: Dr. Norman C. Francis's Impact on Loyola, and Higher Education Saturday, October 15, 4 p.m. - 6 p.m., Residential Quad - Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated Family Cookout Wednesday, October 19, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m., Residential Quad - WYES Film Screening: Dr. Norman C. Francis, a Legacy of Leadership Thursday, October 20, 12:45 p.m. - 1:30 p.m., Residential Quad and Francis Family Hall - The Blanche and Norman C. Francis Family Hall Blessing and Dedication.
