Alcorn Gives Tour of the Faculty and Staff Housing During Open House
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on October 23, 2022

The Alcorn State University community got a glimpse of the latest employee housing complex during an Open House event.

The celebration of the new Faculty and Staff Housing complex was held Friday, Oct. 21. Attendees got an opportunity to tour the complex and see all it offers.

The complex has four units: Building One includes two-bedroom townhome units; Building Two includes two and three-bedroom townhome units; and Building Three and Four includes one, two, and three-bedroom apartment units.

This $10 million project is the first-ever state-funded housing project on a university campus.

President Dr. Felecia M. Nave expressed her excitement for the project and what it provides for Alcorn.

"This project brings a much-needed enhancement to the University,” said Nave. “It allows us to continue to attract talent to Alcorn.”

Dr.

Cornelius Wooten, senior vice president for Finance, Administrative Services, and Operations, was happy to see the University's hard work pay off.

"This is a long-awaited celebration," said Wooten. "This project is one that was much needed. These apartments will help attract and maintain faculty and staff. Quality housing is important for us at Alcorn."

Marcus Ward, vice president for Institutional Advancement, spoke about the University's effort to enhance the faculty and staff experience on campus.

"This is a start for where we are trying to take the experience for our faculty and staff," said Ward. "We love the experience that our students receive, but we want to ensure that those providing the tutelage, tools, and guidance for our students are also able to enjoy their experience. We're excited about the future and look forward to bringing more amenities here."
